The third one is also packed with some scares.Įquilibrium is different. It also includes a scare moment you won't forget for quite a while. The first mission has an annoying glitch in it that ambient sounds are played way too loud, but that is the mission's only flaw. Surprisingly little Undead in it though.Ī Night In Rocksbourg is a set of missions (currently in progress) designed by a veritable artist. It's the FM for those that want to feel like playing Ultima Underworld again - it's almost all underground in caverns and long-forgotten hallways. I do not recommend Ruins Of Originia for novice Thief players, but those looking for a decent challenge are in for a ride of a lifetime. Several "WTF" design decisions don't help either. It's a 9-mission monstrosity that has a lot of effort put into it, but despite all of that effort (including the largest cathredal you'll ever see) I couldn't find a reason to continue past the half-way point. The Keeper Of The Prophecies campaign is another FM I'd weigh in a bit before downloading. Every single thing you can hate about Thief, combined with bad narrative and several "FAIL" design decisions are all combined into a single mission. It's a 3-mission FM where the first mission is a good city romp, but the second mission is an absolute nightmare. ![]() :wink:Ĭalendra's Legacy I actually advise against. You may have heard of his best work, Shalebridge Cradle. It also holds historical value, because IIRC, the creator of this FM was hired by Ion Storm (because they were impressed by this FM) as a level designer for Thief 3. It has great replayability compared to other FM's. The Inverted Manse is different from many other FMs in that the difficulty scale not only affects mission objectives, enemy placement and numbers, but also which parts of the level are accessible to you. ![]() My Darkloader says I've played 7th Crystal, but I can't remember anything about it, so no comment there either. Of the above, I have not played The Night Watch and the Relic mission, so no comment on those. Anyways if you wanted to tell me what specifically you enjoyed about the thief games and which original missions were your favorite I might be able to give you more helpful reccomendations. They're a little different in tone and style for sure, which I think is mostly due to the fact that they try and tell a story over the course of a single mission rather than a whole campaign. Some people think none of the fan missions aproach the level of quality as the original game and others don't. ![]() Hoefully that helps, those websites have way better listings then whatever I could provide. You need a program called darkloader to run them and i think you have to download some other random file (convict.osm i think) to make it work. the forums at are good for reading about fms and or are good download places. A couple of these are sequels to each other So you might want to make sure you play em in order. Keeper of the Prophecies campaign (my personal favorite)Īre all recommended Most of the good fms are for thief2 though.
